What is Somatic Medicine Healing?
We need to feel in order to heal….
Somatic processing refers to therapeutic approaches that focus on the connection between the body and the mind to address and resolve trauma, stress, and emotional issues. Unlike traditional talk therapy, somatic processing emphasizes bodily sensations, movements, and experiences as pathways to healing. By paying attention to physical sensations and integrating them with emotional and cognitive awareness, individuals can process and release stored trauma and stress from their bodies, leading to improved mental and physical well-being. Techniques may include mindfulness to present sensations, breathwork, body awareness exercises, guided movement and sacred earth medicines.

In order to heal, fully love and embrace life, we need to learn to connect and engage with all levels of ourselves, collecting the parts of our whole being back together by bringing awareness to the physical, emotional, spiritual, interpersonal / relational and psychological parts of self.
We are multi-dimensional beings and the frequency of the mind is different from the heart. The heart is much slower than the mind and the body is even slower than the heart. These differences in frequencies remind us to slow down in order to heal and listen to what the body is telling us.
We can’t change the past; however we can change how our bodies hold it. We are not meant to hold it all by ourselves; we are relational beings that thrive in supportive and nurturing environments.
By cultivating present moment awareness of bodily sensations, emotions, impulses and thoughts, self-understanding and integration of this wisdom can be facilitated, promoting wholeness and well-being.
Our ultimate goal is to access and support our inner healing intelligence, accessing our body's capacity for self regulation and resilience.
The felt sense in the body is a trustworthy source of truth, the invitation is to listen and learn what your body is communicating, not only in sessions but also as a tool for yourself to use as a powerful resource for resilience for what life may bring in the future.
A deeper insight to Our Approach
Embodied mindful presence and sacred earth medicines both disrupt or decrease our default mode network (DMN) activity in the brain, supporting different experiences of self.
Both increase connectivity between brain regions of sensory processing, emotion regulation and self awareness, supporting heightened sensory perception and expanded consciousness.
Together, embodied mindful presence and sacred earth medicines can cause changes in brain structure via plasticity and can induce non ordinary states of consciousness. This enables Psychological flexibility, the ability to detach from current mindsets, explore alternatives, and align actions with personal values while staying in touch with present moment thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations — pulling us away from reactivity and autopilot states. Rigid narratives, self orientations, beliefs, embedded trauma patterns can be teased apart and observed, (re)considered, re-written/re woven into a healthier tapestry.
All deep healing work requires effort, just as all learning does; it’s not passive, it requires repetition (integration) and it is cyclical not linear. There has to be a willingness to take two steps forward and one step back, at times, and most importantly enjoying the journey of discovery.
